Resident of Kensington and Chelsea? Could you be a Healthy Homes Ambassador?

We are currently recruiting Healthy Homes Ambassadors - people who work within their local community (from a block, to a street, to a neighbourhood) to identify the most vulnerable residents and help ensure they are keeping safe and warm.

Some people may not be able to get out and about because of ice and snow, they may have had an accident or be taken ill, their homes may be in a poor condition or they may be really worried about their heating bills.

Response re Stranger Danger letters from local schools following incident

Police have received a report that an unknown adult male approached a 10 year-old old boy and spoke to him in the street. The young boy reported this to his teacher who in turn has reported this to the police.

This incident happened Monday 5th December at about 8.40am as the boy was walking to his school in Oxford Gardens from Colville Road.

This matter is being investigated by the Community Safety Team at Notting Hill. It may be an innocent interaction and we do not want…

A message from Stephen Kavanagh Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Territorial Policing

  • The current situation facing London is one which affects all communities, regardless of age and ethnicity.
  • We recognise that there are underlying issues to current events. There is a role for the whole community - police, parents, schools, local leaders and others - to stand together to bring order to our streets and help rebuild our communities.
  • The vast majority of London's communities are appalled by this current disorder and together we condemn the…

Ratty and Toad Would Like It

For those of us captivated by Wind in the Willows when we were children ‘messing about on boats’ may be a natural longing for adventure and well past our youth I’m sure.

Picture my face then when a long time friend from Wales recently moved to London and bought a narrow boat or canal boat to live in (though not called a long boat I’m told as this has something to do with Vikings!).

The boat is normally moored in the canal at Northfields, but…

The Countryside On Our Doorstep

Yes, yes, there is always a need for new homes, schools and jobs in the area, but perhaps like me you are feeling a bit hemmed in by the new developments planned locally, as highlighted by Derek’s post. I ask myself, “does every square inch of local land need something built on it”? Perhaps it just seems that way.

Imagine my delight today then at discovering an oasis of calm on our doorsteps. Encouraged by the sunlight, I decided to eat lunch outdoors. Where better I thought…

Kensington Academy - What The Council Is Really Planning

"Partnerships for Schools (PfS) have given a commitment to fund the Academy to £17.6M. This is a low figure compared to benchmark costs for secondary schools in the area and would have the following effects:

  • Limited scope for external works such as sports pitches

  • Simple heating and ventilation strategy relying on traditional radiators and openable windows rather than more elaborate passive systems or mechanical…
